There are three Units under the Relief Secretariat namely:
The Relief Ministry identifies specific needs of Christians, victims of floods, war, etc. and attends to them. It liaises with all the other Secretariats to find out a workable means of offering effective relief services to Christians/Churches.
The Centre for Victims of Domestic Violence and the Homeless (CVDVH) focuses on victims of domestic violence and the homeless with the passion of helping to rehabilitate them. This is due to the fact that at least one in every three women has been beaten, coerced into sex or otherwise abused during her lifetime around the world. These women are victims most of whom have no voice, help or idea how to deal with the situation. There is an estimated range from 960,000 incidents of violence against a current or former spouse, boyfriend, or girlfriend per year to three million women who are physically abused by their husband or boyfriend per year.
CVDVH offer opportunity to victims of Domestic Violence (DV) and the homeless to meet with key –
staff one-on-one basis to
discuss issues such as how to move-on, benefits, life at the CVDVH, career options and anything that
will help them deal
with their situation for a new beginning.
CVDVH also work together with the victims of DV and the homeless on preparing them for independent
living.
CVDVH makes all efforts to prevent discrimination or unfair treatment against users of our service,
regardless of race, gender, religion, sexuality, age, disability or offending background.
Victims of DV with desperate situation and single homeless who must be aged 18 or over will be
provided with accommodation during the rehabilitation process.
Those to be provided with accommodation could apply directly or through referring agencies.
CVDVH is committed to the rehabilitation of all individuals accepted into both residential and
non-residential status.
CVDVH also ensure excellent organisational and interpersonal skills and maintain sound working
relationship with all
establishments and institutions that share similar vision.
This is a haven for lonely older persons who are 60 years old and above, and in need of
socialization, friendship, love and compassion. The center entertains the older people for the day
so that they can make friends and socialize with other people.
We believe in caring for the aged by providing them with recreational activities, opportunities for
socialization and help maintain their relationship with God. We seek to provide a clean and cheerful
environment with opportunities for spiritual enhancement and counselling. Moreover all the needy
aged would have some of their needs met.
COC helps the aged find meaning to their lives and put a smile on their faces.
